2006-07

All Sections

  • A 5 star performance was put in by our company at the end of year Battalion Event. We won trophies in ALL events entered. AB {Potted Sports}, JS {Unihoc}, CS {Kwik Cricket} and as an added Bonus - won the Champions Cup in both the Junior & Company Sections !!! What a fantastic performance from our members. And thanks also to the staff who give up their time to take the boys to the events throughout the year
  • Juniors enjoy a great camp in Portsmouth.
  • Sep: Jubilee Weekend is a great success
  • Old Boys/Staff Meal at The Barns, Cardington Road. 4 Captains present. JT treats us to 'one of his songs' relating to his time as Captain during the 70's. A Quiz on the past 50 years is won by (Nigel Spratt & Andrew Ingram)
  • The Legends Football match v the current members is a great success. The Legends came out the victors
  • Our 50th Display saw many old boys and staff return, including John King (a first nighter) and Frank Moss (Lifeboy leader from Feb 57). The Juniors put on a specatuclar routine using fluresecent lights, and the Company performed BB Rhapsody.
  • The Company are joined by the Girls Brigade for the Celebration Service on the Sunday
  • All our school years 1-6, go to Kids World to let off steam - great fun !

Company Section

  • Mar: 2 Boys represent the company in the Battalion Table Tennis Competition, held at Kempston East. A fantastic performance against some clver and tricky opponents, saw our No 1, unbeaten all night, and the No 2, only losing to our No. 1 !!! This is possibly the first Battalion trophy that this section has won since the 1987-88 session. [albeit it was closed during 92-2004]. But its been a while coming. Many congratulations to our new found superstars !!!

    • Nov: Nationals 1st Round Chess v 3rd Bedford [lost 5-1]
    • Nov: Nationals 1st Round Masterteam [Came 3rd, top 2 only qualify]
    • Oct: Half Term Camp to Southport. What a great week. Swimming, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, National Football Museum, Football match v 7th Southport, volleyball, Badminton, Hike and great food... roll on the next one...

    Anchor Boys

    • Jul: Champions ~ Sports Day
    • Jul: 3rd Place ~ Art Competition
    • Mar: We miss being Champions in the Ten Pin Bowling by just 3 pins, and settle for 2nd Place.
    • Nov: Our Boys join in the BIG party at Flitwick and have a great time
    • Oct: A fun time is had at Kids World, Bedford !
    • Sep: This section enjoys a great day at Woburn Safari Park

    2005-06

    All Sections

    • May: Our display welcomed back Mr Mayhew (ex-Captain). A Variety of sketches included A Year in the Life of an Anchor Boy, The Juniors doing 'Monsters, What Monsters ?' a sketch wrapped around a Dr Who theme, and the Company Section singing the 2nd Bedford Rhapsody,to the tune of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody.
    • May: £92 Raised for Bedford Hospitals Charity
    • Dec: Join the Blue Peter Treasure Trail Appeal on Behalf of Childline

    Company Section

    • May: Win the Nottingham 5-a-side Plate Competition
    • Jan: Company section reach semi-final of the National 'Junior' 5-a-side Football Company, by finishing 2nd in their tough group.
    • Apr: Runners Up ~ Unihoc
    • Mar: 3rd Place ~ Table Tennis
    • Sep: 12 Boys enjoy an action packed camp at Maidstone

    Junior Section

    • Jun: Win Unihoc Comp
    • Jun: Crowned BATTALION Champions !!!
    • Jun: 14 boys enjoy a Seaside camp at Felpham. During the Camp we break 2 World Records. Biggest Sleepver 34000 and largest simultaneous teeth brushing.
    • May: 3rd Place ~ Water Games
    • Mar: 3rd Place ~ Bible Quiz
    • Mar: Champions ~ 10 Pin Bowling
    • Dec: 3rd Place ~ Figure Marching
    • Dec: Runners Up ~ Dodgeball
    • Dec: Join the GB for a Carol Singing Concert at a nearby Elderly Care home
    • Nov: 20th Luton and 1st Flitwick join our 'Space' Camp

    Anchor Boys

    • Jun: Runners up in the Battalion Champions Cup (2nd year running)
    • Jun: Runners up in the Sports Day
    • Jun: Runners Up in the Art Competition (Daniel & the Lions Den)

    2004-05

    All Sections

    • Jun: A Later Display than normal. Our guest of honour was Mr Dave Baker (Captain of 1st Kempston) Joint with the GB, we put on a good show, the Anchor Boys sung a few songs, the Company did a version of the Navy Gun run (but with BB Crests) whilst the Juniors did a superb sketch to salute Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar

    Company Section

    • Jun: Outing to Great Yarmouth. Another great day which culminated in the lads going to the Pleasure Beach and making the most of their all inclusive wristbands. We finished the day with a fish n chips supper and a great game of footy on the beach.
    • Jun: CS took on an older 1st Kempston in a challenge night at Addison Howard Park . It consisted of Softball and Football. The matches were played in good sportsmanship and Kempston edged home as winners. Our lads are keen for a re-match next session.

    Junior Section

    • Jul: At the Battalion Summer Event, The Juniors come 3rd in the Swimming Gala
    • Jun: AB & JS Outing to Gulliver's World, Milton Keynes. A fantastic day out in glorious sunshine, boys were able to enjoy many rides
    • Mar: Our Junior Section have a fantastic camp in London, spending a night on board HMS Belfast. 3rd Bedford & 20th Luton also join us. Whilst their we explore the Tower Bridge Walkways, the London Eye and Hamleys... The boys say that its the best camp we've had...

    Anchor Boys

    • Jun: Runners up in the Battalion Champions Cup
    • Jul: Win the Art Competition (based on Jesus Calming the Storm)
    • Jun: AB & JS Outing to Gulliver's World, Milton Keynes. A fantastic day out in glorious sunshine, boys were able to enjoy many rides
